Two Weeks

Holy what?! Two weeks from now we'll be off on our big adventure. What an exhilarating - albeit slightly daunting - thing this is!

It's beginning to hit home the bitter sweet reality of the move. Saying goodbye to our nearest and dearest was never going to be easy, and now that the time has come, I'm truthfully a little sadder than I thought I would be. In the last week we've payed Aunty Val and (Great) Grandma a visit, and listened with fascination of all their stories of a time gone by. These two women are so full of spark and character, I have no doubt in my mind we'll be seeing them again in a couple of years. On Australia Day we caught up with my Dad and his partner for lunch and it dawned on me that this is BIG. It's not everyday you move to the other side of the world!

Our time with Dad and Rhondda ended sooner than I would have hoped, but the pair have said they will be at the airport on Friday 12th to see us off. It is going to be wonderful to have some familiar faces with us as we say goodbye to our homeland.

As I look ahead, we've got a jam-packed schedule between now and leave day. More family to farewell, household items to clear out (thank god for a perfectly timed council kerbside collection!), documents to print, workplaces to depart, a move out of our apartment, a coffee or two at our favourite cafes.. Oh and somewhere there we need to pack our suitcases. Probably a good idea. x k
