Making the Move

I am blessed to have called South East Queensland home for my entire life. I was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast; in my teenage years shared my time between the gorgeous Glasshouse Mountains and various dance studios in Brisbane; and later moved to Brisbane to.. ahem.. 'reduce travel time to get to uni classes' (i.e. a great excuse to be with my boy!).

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to explore beyond this familiar landscape. To experience another country, another culture, another way of being. Aside from a small family holiday to Bali as a teen, I've not yet had the opportunity to venture internationally.

Aaron and I have talked about travel many times over the length of our 6 year relationship. When the last of our study commitments were completed in 2013, we began nutting out some plans.

After two years of saving, and having spent the last three months organising passports, documents, visas, travel insurance and plane tickets, I am delighted to say that my love and I are relocating to Vancouver, Canada in February 2016.

And it's suddenly hitting home just how exciting and scary it is!

In the lead up to the big move, we'll be doing what we've coined 'nostalgia trips' around some of our favourite spots here in Brisbane. In particular, we lived together in New Farm for five years and the town holds many dear memories for us. Aaron and I will be documenting our goodbyes through photos and video and we'll share it all here.

We're a little over two months out from our flying date and while I'm a little nervous to see how I'll go settling into a new country/finding a home/landing a good job, I'm also super excited to see what adventures await us.
