False Creek & Hinge Park

We've been in Canada for three weeks now and the time feels like it has gone both slow and fast. We're gradually learning the groove of our new home and adapting to the ways of Canadian life. Every day one of us still says to the other - 'we live in Canada!'. Despite being in Vancouver and growing more comfortable, the reality still hasn't quite set in. I'm not sure it ever will. Living in Canada has its quirks. The climate, the houses, the road rules. Hunting down decent iced lattes, remembering to add tax to the cost of items, the little social queues and etiquette. Sticking out like a sore thumb for having blonde hair (I swear I'm the only one here with blonde hair), coming to terms with the much lower minimum wage/hourly rate (and therefore accepting that I'll have to go back to my natural hair colour to save my bank account!), rejoicing in the fact that the cost of living is also lower. The differences may seem challenging at times, but it's what makes living abroad exciting.

We're into March now which means Spring is here. Although still cold and rainy, we're beginning to see glimpses of the change in season. The cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom and it is even prettier than I imagined. The sun is setting a little later and daylight savings time kicks in next week. A few days ago it was even warm enough for me to wear a dress with tights (with my outer coats, but still.. a reduction in layers!).

We check the weather prediction every night to decipher what we'll do the following day. I've been hanging out for a sunny/not rainy day so we can do some exploring and photographing, and on Saturday the weather gods smiled upon us! After a morning bouldering session and coffee at our new favourite cafe, we wandered along the waterfront and stumbled across what they call a 'beach' (clearly these people haven't been to Australia!). Hinge Park gave us an incredible view of the creek and city opposite. The most epic snow-capped mountain ranges hug Vancouver city and it's a view I don't think I'll ever tire of.

I took a few photos on our way home too.. look at how pretty our train station is! And we can see snowy mountains from our street! Ah, divine!
