A Little Life Update

Okay so since our last blog post, summer has come and gone and we have little to show for it! Truth be told, we're preoccupied with so many things that we've barely have the opportunity to see anything more than our living room and our work places over the last few months.

On this date one year ago, Aaron's parents were finishing up their visit to Canada! How time has flown. But when I think about what we've been up to since Lorette and Michael's visit, I realise the enormity of what we've been able to achieve.

2017 has been a good year. For me personally, I've been putting all my energy and focus into my creative pursuits. I've been choreographing dances and creating short dance films. I'm also using my expertise and experience in dance to educate younger dancers through my YouTube channel. This #sidehustle work is done on my weekends, early mornings and late afternoons, around my employment. On that note, I started working with a local dancewear label a few months ago and it has been really great. And best of all is I'm finally out of retail!

Aaron has had an awesome 12 months professionally. A big reason for us selecting Vancouver as our destination was for the potential job opportunities within games and tech. So when he landed a role with Electronic Arts in September last year, he was pretty stoked to say the least! EA has been an a fantastic way to kick-start his career. He's worked on a couple of major title projects, including NHL. Most excitingly, NHL 18 has recently been launched. This marks as Aaron's first triple A game release. For those not in the gaming world, this is a big deal. I'm sure this is just the first of many to come.

Whilst juggling our jobs and side endeavours, we've also spent much of 2017 preparing for a giant step in our lives. Moving to Canada permanently. We have known almost since the start of our Canadian adventure that we would like to obtain Permanent Residency, and this year we're doing our best to make it happen. It's not an easy process. It's extremely tedious and exhausting to say the least. We've been gathering all the necessary documents, taking examinations and sending a lot of emails and messages for guidance for what feels like forever. Fortunately, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel! We are so close to finally submitting the last stage of our application and in a few days it will be out of our hands!

I'm not going to promise we'll be consistent on posting to our blog or YouTube channel, because I barely know what I'm doing tomorrow let alone the days after that! But I do genuinely want to share more of what happens in our lives. Especially given we're aiming to settle in Canada permanently. It's really important to me to document things, not only for the sake of our own memories, but for our families and friends abroad too. Getting married, having (adorable) offspring etc etc - it's probable we'll get to doing those things at some point. What I want to ensure is that whatever we do with our lives, however big or small, that we can still make our families a part of it - even if we are living oceans apart.
