Winter 2022

This winter season felt like it was three years long. So many things happened that looking back, I was convinced it was a longer period of time than it really was.

At the beginning of December, we celebrated the tail-end of Aaron’s birthday. It started snowing, the newest covid variant started taking over, and we attended my work’s Christmas party at Stanley Park. As is tradition, we celebrated Christmas with our Aussie-Canadian fam (and it was extra special to be part of baby V’s first xmas!).

The first week of January turned out to be an unlucky one for us. We’d hoped to get over to Vancouver Island to spend a few days with our pals, but the weather had other plans. A huge snowstorm came through, causing terrible driving conditions and cancelled ferry sailings. I was pretty disappointed to say the least :( To try and make up for it, we bought a breadmaker. Not exactly the same as two nights in Victoria, but the delicious smell of baked bread through the apartment did lift the spirits.

Aaron’s parents arrived from Australia later in January. A long-awaited day had finally arrived! So with that, the rest of the season was a blur of social gatherings. Our weekends mostly alternated between seeing Koole and Aaron’s parents.

For a season to feel like it went forever.. it’s a satisfying change of pace to say the least. After two years of covid affecting hopes and plans, it has been lovely to have some punctuation in our lives again.

First snow of the season!

I was able to spot the flying kangaroo (carrying some very special passengers) as it landed at YVR.

A day of bridal boutiques with Sara!
